After 26 games Manchester United are 12 points ahead of nearest rival Manchester City. City dropped points at Southampton in a 3-1 loss that saw Gareth Barry put one in his own net.

Chelsea had no trouble finding the net, putting four past relegation threatened Wigan. Tottenham and Gareth Bale ended Newcastle’s turn in form, beating the tynsiders 2-1. Chelsea and Tottenham are 3rd and 4th with 49 and 48 points respectively.

Arsenal lost Aaron Ramsey to injury and say Carl Jenkinson dismissed in a hard fought 0-1 win at Sunderland.  Jenkinson saw a second yellow and the Gunners were forced to defend Santi Cazorla’s goal with depleted numbers for half an hour.   

Norwich and Fulham ground out a 0-0 draw and Stoke made sure Reading remain in the relegation zone. QPR remained bottom after losing 4-1 to Swansea. Michu added two to his goal tally, taking him to 15 in the league and 18 overall. 

A late penalty and N’zogbia goal helped the Villains move out of the bottom three. Aston Villa striker, Christian Benteke scored the penalty with 15 minutes left and Charles N’zogbia doubled it four minutes later.

Manchester United beat Everton 2-0 going 12 points clear. Giggs scored the first goal in the box with his right foot and Van Persie finished off the Toffees right at halftime.

United can gloat 12 points above Man City

Liverpool play West Brom at Anfield on Monday.
