Apparently when it comes to eagles, super eagles fly higher than the regular sort. Nigeria burst into the final of the African Cup of Nations 4-1 against Mali and more in the tank.

The defender Eiderson Echiejile opened the scoring with a wonderful diving header. Brown Ideye wasn’t quite as graceful, but just as effective making it 2-0 five minutes later.

Emmanuel Emminke’s free kick deflected off former Liverpool play Momo Sissoko. Ahmed Musa came off the bench to score a fourth and was only denied another by the offside flag. Cheick Diarra scored the only goal for Mali with 15 minutes left in the match.

The young Nigerian team pressed from the start and never allowed Mali a say in the match. Chelsea player John Obi Mikel did all but score in the match as he dictated play. Fans were refreshed by such dominant play and their first final since 2000.

Mali made it this far last year only to lose to the Ivory Coast at the same stage.
